Ben Shapiro Mocks Avenatti: ‘As Much of a Good Lawyer As Elizabeth Warren is Native American’
On Monday night, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro had some fun at the expense of Michael Avenatti.
Avenatti has had a rough couple of weeks. First, his Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick was widely dismissed after she walked backed claims suggesting that then-Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh was a gang rapist during a televised interview. And now this week, a judge not only dismissed his case on behalf of Stormy Daniels but was also ordered to pay President Donald Trump‘s legal fees.
While Shapiro expressed his excitement for a potential 2020 run from Avenatti, he ridiculed the attorney’s job performance as of late. And he managed to squeeze in some barbs about Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) as well.
“Michael Avenatti, who was my entertaining frontrunner for 2020- I was really looking forward to Avenatti making a play in the Democratic primaries,” Shapiro told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum. “I have to say at this point, Michael Avenatti is as much of a good lawyer as much as Elizabeth Warren is Native American.”
MacCallum noted that Avenatti recently campaigned in South Carolina and that Shapiro had previously appeared on her show and that he “hoped” he’d run for president.
“I did and I still do because this is highly, highly entertaining stuff,” Shapiro continued. “But again, he’s 1/1,024th of a decent lawyer because this was not a good case to bring in the first place and now he’s been humiliated a couple of times in three weeks.”
