Bill Clinton on CNN: Republicans Have ‘Much More Reliable Media Base’
Hillary Clinton once spoke of a “vast right-wing conspiracy” going after her husband’s administration, and Bill Clinton is now giving it points for effectiveness. Clinton sat down with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria in an interview to be aired Sunday, promoting the Clinton Global Initiative and talking about Hillary’s 2016 chances. In talking about the Democratic party’s prospects, Clinton credited the Republicans with having a more streamlined, focused, and “reliable media base” than the left does.
Clinton said he’s not worried about the Democrats’ political chances, and then brought up this somewhat backhanded compliment for the Republicans.
You’ve got to give it to the Republicans. They have a much more reliable media base, and they just say no. They know what they want. They want power to cut taxes, eliminate regulations, take government down except for what they like. And they can fill the atmosphere with a lot of static.
Clinton acknowledged messaging is “a little tougher” for Democrats to get things done and have a “deft strategy” to communicate those things to the people, as opposed to the conservative media’s ability to rally up the base so easily.
