Bill Kristol Goes Off on Fmr. White House Adviser: ‘Trump Will Kick You When it Seems Useful for Trump’

Conservative pundit Bill Kristol taught President Donald Trump’s former communications adviser Jason Miller a lesson on America’s separation of powers Monday morning.

During a CNN discussion between the two, Miller asserted that Republican Senator Bob Corker should resign if he’s not willing to help Trump pass his agenda, to which Kristol responded by reminding him that Corker is there to represent the people of Tennessee — not work for the president.

“He’s not there to represent Trump. He’s there to represent the people,” said Kristol regarding Corker’s recent verbal protests against Trump.

Kristol also accused Trump of only employing “one way street” loyalty, meaning that he demands Republicans remain loyal to him throughout his numerous scandals, but refuses to offer the same courtesy to the more moderate members of his party.

“You can be loyal to him and say critical things after Charlottesville. That was not astonishing to say something critical. And Trump will kick you when it seems useful for Trump,” Kristol added.

Kristol’s comments included a lengthy rant defending Corker and castigating Miller for his bought and paid for loyalty to the president:

“They think Republican senators and congressmen were sent there to rubber stamp whatever Trump wants. And not just rubber stamp, but never say anything critical. Bob Corker was elected by the citizens of Tennessee. He has the same status as an elected officials and other senators. He owes them his six years of service, his candor, his best judgment. I wish he had exercised it a little earlier… You’re there to do whatever Donald Trump says. If Donald Trump says jump, you say how high? And if you say something critical — Corker didn’t even vote against Donald Trump, for God’s sake, unlike John McCain and Susan Collins. But if you say something critical, boy, you have somehow betrayed the team. That is a very pernicious view of how politics works.”

While he was initially one of Trump’s main backers — defending the now-president on the campaign trail and even speaking at his rallies — Corker has recently come out swinging against the current administration. Over the weekend, Tennessee senator suggested Trump is like a “reckless” child leading America “on the path to World War III.”
