Bill Kristol: If Obama Is Ahead In Polls Despite Jobs Numbers, Romney Camp Should Be Worried
With the jobs numbers released Friday providing little good news for anyone, Fox News Sunday guest host John Roberts asked today why President Obama is still leading Mitt Romney in key battleground states. Bill Kristol attributed the trend to Romney not being able to provide a clear alternative to what Obama is doing, and said the Republican campaign should be worried about being behind at this point.
Kristol noted it was all the more remarkable because for three months in a row, the jobs reports released have been not been very kind to the Obama administration, and yet the president manages to hang on. He said, “if I were in the Romney campaign, that would worry me.” Kristol brought up another poll showing while 41 percent think Obama has a clear plan for what to do about the economy, only 27 percent can say the same about Mitt Romney.
“I don’t think you can beat an incumbent president, even if the economy is slow, if 27 percent of the voters think you, as the challenger, don’t have a clear plan for improving the economy.”
