Bill O’Reilly Calls Howard Dean’s Assessment of Paris Attack ‘Dumb’

Bill O’Reilly opened his show Wednesday by sharing his take on the terror attack in Paris that left 12 people dead, including several cartoonists for the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The Fox host zeroed in on comments made by Howard Dean, who said we should stop referring to the people who commit atrocities such as this one as “Muslim terrorists.” In O’Reilly’s view, “That’s just dumb.”

“ISIS recruits fanatical Muslims, that’s who they recruit,” O’Reilly said. “They don’t go after flower children from San Francisco, they are not the Moonies. Howard Dean does not know what he is talking about. He is in a state of denial, and there are many, many others like him in America.”

O’Reilly also condemned comments about Charlie Hebdo’s cartoons made by former White House Press Secretary Jay Carney back in 2012. “That’s a message of weakness,” the host said of Carney’s decision to question the magazine’s “judgement.”

While O’Reilly understood that it’s not always best to “antagonize fanatical killers,” but said, “the real issue is confronting the jihad,” something he suggested was not happening to a sufficient degree both here and in Europe.
