Bill O’Reilly made his first appearance on Fox News as a guest since being fired earlier this year, but old habits die hard as he essentially took over for Sean Hannity.
“The spin stops here!” O’Reilly told viewers.
O’Reilly praised Hannity for “kicking MSNBC’s butt” last night in ratings.
“No no, we can say ‘ass!'” Hannity cheerfully added, which O’Reilly quickly dismissed.
“He’s taking over five seconds in,” Hannity joked.
O’Reilly believed the reason why his former colleague “slaughtered” Rachel Maddow was because people are angry about the NFL anthem protests.
“When the Jaguars and the Ravens were over in London, and they kneeled down on a foreign soil, and then they stood up for the British national anthem,” I was angry and sad because I don’t believe those players know what they are doing,” O’Reilly continued. “About 3,000 miles east of you, there are American military people in Kandahar, Afghanistan, whose entertainment revolves around the Armed Forces Network that broadcasts football games. Now I was over there in ’07. I watched football games with them.”
He added, “Can you imagine putting your life on the line in Afghanistan and having just the leisure time and wanting the watch a football game and seeing your players, your American players, disrespect the country and the flag on foreign soil. Can you imagine how painful that was?”
While O’Reilly said that these NFL players have the right to protest, he noted that their claims that America is an “evil country where white supremacists stalk innocent blacks” are not true.
After discussing the NFL anthem protests, Hannity brought up how race has become a “wedge issue” used by Democrats in election years that he believes is “dividing the country.”
“A year ago, you didn’t hear the words ‘white supremacist.’ Didn’t hear it. Nobody heard it,” O’Reilly said. “It was ‘white privilege’… it has morphed into ‘white supremacist’ now and people are buying it. Why? Because the far left agents – and I think they’re evil — want to destroy the Constitution in the sense that they want it all changed.”
He claimed the “end game” is that the left “can’t have a Constitution” that was made by slaveowners like Thomas Jefferson.
“They don’t want capitalism, they don’t want the electoral college, they don’t want white people generally calling the shots,” O’Reilly continued. “So they have to mobilize minority Americans to be angry.”
