Bill O’Reilly got very candid about his job, his books, and his friendship with Donald Trump in a profile on CBS Sunday Morning today.
He told correspondent Mo Rocca that he is seriously concerned about the lack of education young Americans these days are getting about their own country.
When Rocca got around to the subject of his Killing book series, he brought up that infamous feud between O’Reilly and George Will over Killing Reagan. Cable news junkies will recall that late last year, people in Ronald Reagan‘s circle spoke out to tear into O’Reilly over the book. Will was particularly harsh, and O’Reilly brought him on his show to confront him. He ended up shouting at Will, “You’re a hack!”
A major criticism they had concerned a memo that circulated about Reagan’s declining mental health––a memo that Will told O’Reilly the author summarily disowned. But O’Reilly stood by his reporting.
Rocca brought up his fight with Will and said, “The way you called George Will a hack… I mean, you really dug in on it. How did you feel about that confrontation?”
O’Reilly said, “It was an honest confrontation… He didn’t have anything. He had nothing. I destroyed him.”
