This morning on Meet the Press, Governor Bobby Jindal, whose name has been tossed around as a contender for the Republican ticket for president in 2012, told host David Gregory that he does not intend to run for president. He did, however, appear to leave the door open for a vice presidential run.
When asked if he was considering a run for president, he responded that he was focused on running only for governor:
“I’m running for reelection in 2011. I am running to be governor of Louisiana. There will be other candidates running for president.”
But when pressed about VP, he said: “I’m not gonna turn down something that’s not been offered for me.” But he emphasized once more: “My only political aspiration is to be reelected governor for a second term,” he said.
