California Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer said on MSNBC that the Senate debate over Planned Parenthood funding had nothing to do with abortion, and everything to do with waging a war on women’s health.
“Monday’s vote, was this like the latest battle? What’s next in the war?” host José Díaz-Balart asked.
“It is a war—I’m glad you called it that,” Boxer replied. “It’s a war on women’s health. It’s not about abortion.”
“Planned Parenthood spends 97% of its dollars on non-abortion related services, such as breast cancer screenings and pap smears and stopping the spread of STDs,” she said. “They serve 2.7 million people in America every year, 500,000 of those happen to be Hispanic. It is a very important health care organization.”
