Brian Kilmeade Grills WH Spox on Employing ‘Two-Time Accused Domestic Abuser’: ‘You Got Burned’
Brian Kilmeade pressed White House Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah for an explanation on Tuesday as the White House continues to do damage control over the domestic abuse scandals surrounding Rob Porter and David Sorensen.
The deputy press secretary gave a wide-ranging interview to Fox & Friends, where he was asked about FBI background checks and whether the White House staff is about to face a shake-up. Shah said that the Administration trusts the current clearance process, though Kilmeade grilled him and asked what’s going to change in light of the apparent failure to flag Porter’s record.
“You relied upon it and you got burned because you had two-time accused domestic abuser there at very sensitive position where perhaps he shouldn’t have been if that was fully exposed, so what changes now?”
Shah insisted that the administration has faith in the FBI and the evaluation process. He also said that Porter’s background check wasn’t finished when his alleged domestic abuse came to light last week, and the White House didn’t want to get involved with it before completion.
