Brian Stelter Knocks Rudy Giuliani For ‘Desperate, Kind of Sad’ Spin on Michael Cohen
As Michael Cohen continues to turn on his former boss, President Donald Trump, in a scandal that seems made for TV, CNN’s Brian Stelter called out those seeking to twist the narrative.
“Here is a humble proposal for the press,” Stelter said during a Sunday monologue on Reliable Sources. “We just spend a lot more time on the facts and less time on the desperate spin about the facts.”
He called out the president’s attorney Rudy Giuliani in particular, “and how he’s trying to distance team Trump from the president’s longtime fixer and lawyer, Michael Cohen.”
“Rudy’s spin is desperate, kind of sad,” Stelter said. “But we all know the truth will come out eventually. I don’t know about you, but I just feel like it’s taking a long time to get to the truth.”
Giuliani has doggedly defended Trump after allegations emerged that the president knew about a 2016 Trump Tower meeting with Russians before it even happened, contrary to his claim he was unaware.
That’s just one of the Trump team’s myriad woes as Cohen releases taped conversations with his old boss, at least one of them concerning payments to quash a story on the president’s alleged affair with a Playboy model.
