Brian Williams on Shutdown: ‘This is Government by Seemingly a Bunch of Drunks’
On Friday night, less than an hour before the midnight deadline, MSNBC anchor Brian Williams had some choice words for elected officials who failed to prevent a government shutdown.
While speaking with colleague Chris Matthews over the phone, The 11th Hour host made some observations of the inactivity on the Senate floor, noting Senators Tom Cotton (R-AK), Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Dick Durban (D-IL), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
“I don’t mean to insult a bunch of drunks,” Williams said, “but this is government by seemingly a bunch of drunks.”
Well, that sparked some praise on Twitter.
“I don’t mean to insult drunks, but this is government by a bunch of drunks.”
Always a way with words, that Brian Williams.

Brian Williams perfectly sums up the GOP shutdown nonsense as "government by a bunch of drunks." pic.twitter.com/bq6htZWoZE
