Brokaw Opens Up About Cancer Diagnosis to Letterman: ‘Very Pleased with the Progress’

During an appearance on The Late Show Thursday night, Tom Brokaw opened up about his recent cancer diagnosis. Brokaw disclosed the news last month, saying at the time I am very grateful for the interest in my condition but I also hope everyone understands I wish to keep this a private matter.”

And Brokaw reiterated the same thing last night, telling David Letterman, “I was keeping it as private as I possibly could, which I intend to continue doing. Im’ very pleased with the progress.” Brokaw also acknowledged that there are plenty of other individuals and families going through the same ordeal as him and “they don’t have the advantages that I do.”

Brokaw has continued to work as a special correspondent for NBC News, and was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement award.
