MSNBC’s Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski noted Monday that on the issue of income inequality, Hillary Clinton was being criticized for a lack of authenticity while no one doubted Bernie Sanders‘ authenticity.
Brzezinski played a clip of Vice President Joe Biden speaking about Sanders’ stance on the issue. “I think that Bernie is speaking to a yearning that is deep and real and he has credibility on it…” Biden said.
“But Hillary is talking about that, is she not?” CNN’s Gloria Borger asked.
“But it’s relatively new for Hillary to talk about that,” Biden said. “…No one questions Bernie’s authenticity on those issues.”
“So translation, Joe, her message is not authentic and Bernie’s is,” Brzezinski said. “I mean, I don’t know how else to look at that.”
“Well, that’s the message,” co-host Joe Scarborough said. “When he says, ‘Well, she’s relatively new to being worried about people that are poorer than the rich…’ which is of course the most important issue to not only the Democratic Party but a lot of economists would say in America. She’s flip-flopping on a lot of other issues.”
