After failing to register the CarlyFiorina.org domain, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina showed a little self-deprecating humor on Tuesday night, joking about the situation to NBC’s Seth Meyers and revealing her plan to somewhat fix the situation.
Since her namesake’s .org domain is already registered, the next-best thing she could do was take the available SethMeyers.org for her campaign. And, indeed, she did: The late-night comedian’s name dot org redirects to CarlyForPresident.com, the former Hewlett-Packard CEO’s campaign homepage.
“Do you know who owns SethMeyers.org?” she asked Meyers on Late Night.
“I do,” she answered. “I just bought it in the green room actually. So you better be really nice to me tonight.”
In return, Meyers joked, “I’m going to start laying people off so you have something to put on it.”
CarlyFiorina.org was purchased by a Service Employees International Union and features a critical take on her tenure as HP’s CEO. “Carly Fiorina failed to register this domain. So I’m using it to tell you how many people she laid off at Hewlett-Packard,” the website reads. A long scroll down the page reveals 30,000 sad-face emoticons each representing one person.
