Carson Dismisses Media ‘Silliness’ on Shooting Remarks: I’m Not ‘Judging’ Victims
Ben Carson appeared on Fox News tonight to defend his earlier remarks about what he would do if he was threatened by a gunman.
On Fox & Friends this morning, Carson said, “I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say, ‘Hey guys, everybody attack him. He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.'” He also said that he “never saw a body with bullet holes that was more devastating than taking the right to arm ourselves away.”
Megyn Kelly pressed Carson tonight on only that first remark and whether he was “callous” in saying that with implied criticism at inaction of victims of shootings like the recent one at Umpqua Community College.
Carson dismissed the media “silliness” and said he’s not judging the victims, but at the same time he said it’s pretty clear “if you sit there and let him shoot you, you’re all gonna be dead.”
He told Kelly he wants to “plant the seed in people’s minds” to do this if they ever face a similar situation so that less people are killed in the future.
