Cenk Uygur Accuses Fox of ‘Right-Washing’ the Vegas Shooters’ Ideology
In his Young Turks monologue Friday, online host Cenk Uygur accused Fox News of “right-washing” the political background of Jerad and Amanda Miller, the young couple that shot and killed two police officers and a civilian during their Vegas rampage on Sunday.
Citing a lack of coverage of the shooters — especially when in comparison to MSNBC and CNN — Uygur suggested Fox instead focused their energy on lambasting the Obama administration for the controversial swap of five Gitmo prisoners for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
Beyond simply ignoring the story, however, Uygur alleged that Fox engaged in willful “right-washing” of their backgrounds, never fully revealing to their audience the Millers’ extensive background in gun advocacy or Bundy Ranch activism. “Don’t want to offend their audience,” Uygur surmised.
He later tore into conservatives for having demanded President Obama call the 2012 Benghazi attacks “terrorism” while seemingly ignoring this pre-planned Vegas shooting spree that, in his belief, fits the mold of ideology-based terrorism.
