Charlie Cook: A Lot of Americans ‘Don’t Recognize’ What the Democrats Have Become

Charlie Cook, of the Cook Political Report, spoke with Chuck Todd on MSNBC today about what it is the Democrats need to learn from their big election loss.

He said that the Democratic party needs a much broader national footprint than they do now, as well as understanding that the country may not have changed as much as they think it has.

Cook also pointed to how “the Democratic party has become a secular party,” aside from a few prayers at the DNC convention. People with certain values across the country, he argued, “don’t recognize” what the party has become.

Todd, meanwhile, also pointed to the issue of trusting hard data over actual voter persuasion.
