Chris Matthews: GOP as ‘Crazy’ as Kim Jong-un Executing His Own Uncle

Pop quiz: What’s the difference between the North Korean regime and the Republican Party? The most logical answer is “a lot,” but in the intro to Hardball Friday, Chris Matthews made it seem like “very little.” The MSNBC host somehow found a way to tie the disturbing news that Kim Jong-un had his own uncle, Jang Song-thaek, executed and the latest ideological rifts within the GOP.

“The right wing is acting, if not as brutally, certainly as crazily” as the North Korean leader, Matthews asserted, before laying out insults conservative radio personalities have hurled toward House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). According to Matthews, the GOP establishment is “scared to death” that the “right-wing media circus will finger them for destruction the way Kim Jong-un just fingered his own unsuspecting guardian uncle over in Pyongyang.”

Well, it’s not North Korea,” he conceded, “but boy is it getting tough over there on the American right.”
