In a panel discussion during tonight’s broadcast of Hardball, MSNBC host Chris Matthews turned the conversation towards what he feels is President Donald Trump’s desire to erase all of the achievements of his predecessor. And the way Matthews sees it, Trump’s hatred for Barack Obama runs deep — and is ethnically based.
With the panel talking about the whole Rex Tillerson-Trump drama, Matthews jumped in to claim that one of the reasons Trump is undercutting his staff on foreign policy is because he wants to wipe out Obama’s successes.
“Let me go back to my wheelhouse, that is this president’s ethnic look at history,” Matthews said. “This president doesn’t want to admit that his predecessor was Barack Obama. He wants to erase his face, his name, his origin, everything from the history books.”
After stating that Trump is trying to get rid of the Iran nuclear deal and Obamacare because they were signature achievements of the Obama era, He then asked why Trump would want a two-front war with Iran and North Korea “except out of some weird bitterness toward the success of Barack Obama.”
MSNBC host Joy Reid went on to state that Trump’s has an “obsession with outdoing and surpassing” Obama and because he’s angry, “he’s crashing through the world” undoing everything Obama accomplished.
