Chris Wallace Calls Daily Caller Heckler ‘Outrageous,’ Shep Smith Declares ‘Tucker Knows Better’
Today on Studio B, Chris Wallace joined Shepard Smith to discuss the White House’s shift in immigration policy. However, the conversation soon turned (as it seems all conversations today will) to the actions of Daily Caller reporter Neil Munro who heckled President Obama during his speech in the Rose Garden. And, while Smith kept reminding viewers that Monro works for Tucker Carlson, a “Fox News contributor,” Wallace didn’t in any way pull his punches when admonishing the reporter’s actions.
Smith brought up the topic by asking Wallace if Munro’s heckling indeed “breaks decorum” as it seemed. Wallace agreed.
“I think it’s outrageous. I covered Ronald Reagan for six years with Sam Donaldson. We used to scream our lungs out asking him questions. But we always waited until the President – any president – was finished speaking. The idea that you would interrupt the President in the middle of prepared remarks and shout a question… I don’t think the guy should be allowed back in the White House on a press pass.”
Discussing the Daily Caller’s defense of their employee, Smith stated “Tucker Carlson knows better.”
Later, when Smith jokingly asked how Wallace’s “time in prison” was (a reference to the inaccurate rumor that he was arrested), Wallace sarcastically shot back “Don’t pull that Daily Caller stuff on me!”
