Chris Wallace: No One Should Be ‘Rooting for’ Mueller Report to Show Trump Committed a Crime

Fox News’ Chris Wallace spoke with Trace Gallagher today following news of a DOJ official saying Robert Mueller‘s report is not expected by next week.

Multiple reports this week said that DOJ is prepping to receive the report, and Wallace recalled today just how much longer the investigation has gone on than some predictions said.

He remarked that next week would’ve been a “weird time” to deliver the report anyway, given that President Donald Trump will be in Vietnam for his second summit with Kim Jong Un.

“We’ve been waiting since May of 2017 for the special counsel’s report. We can wait another week,” Wallace said.

Gallagher brought up Democrats’ anticipation about the report and said, “Whatever is in the Mueller report, the Democrats won’t like it.”

Wallace said that no one should really “like” it if it turns out the president committed crimes:

“The idea that anybody would like it if it showed that the president had committed a crime, you know, nobody should be rooting for that outcome. It would obviously be terrible news for the country, if––and I repeat if––it were to show that.”

He added that no matter how much of the report comes out publicly, “this isn’t going to be the end of it,” citing in part avenues of investigation Democrats plan to take anyway.
