During an appearance on CNN’s The Lead Tuesday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie reacted to the the latest round of revelations from the 2012 campaign in the book Double Down and revealed that as soon as behind-the-scenes gossip about Christie’s vetting process for the VP slot was leaked, Mitt Romney called to personally apologize “right away.”
Christie called the leak “very disappointing,” and said that when Romney spoke to him, “I could tell he was really embarrassed and outraged about it.’
He slammed the Romney team for a “complete violation of trust,” even after assurances that only a select group of people would know about the vetting and everything was being held very close to the vest.
Christie did not directly address the tidbit that Romney reportedly laughed and made fun of his weight.
