Christine Ford Gets Emotional Recalling Kavanaugh’s ‘Uproarious Laughter’ During Alleged Attack
During testimony on Capitol Hill on Thursday, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford recalled how she will never forget the “uproarious laughter” shared between Brett Kavanaugh and Mark Judge while she was being held down by one of them during her alleged assault in a Maryland home when she was a teen.
Sen. Patrick Leahy began by asking if it was possible she might have mixed Kavanaugh and Judge up with someone else.
“No, it is not,” she replied.
“But you would not mix up somebody else with Brett Kavanaugh, is that correct?” Leahy pressed.
He then asked the same about Judge. Ford made it clear that she would not mix up Judge either.
Things then took an emotional turn when she was asked about her strongest memory of the incident she has.
“Indelible in the hippocampus is the laughter,” she said, breaking down a bit. “The uproarious laughter between the two. And their having fun at my expense.”
“You have never forgotten that laughter. Never forgotten them laughing at you…” Leahy gently prodded. .
“They were laughing with each other,” Ford replied, her voice cracking.
“And you were the object of the laughter?” Leahy pressed.
“I was, you know, underneath one of them while the two laughed,” the visibly upset Ford said before describing the painful recollection of her assault being underscored with the memory of her attackers acting like “two friends having a really good time with one another.”
