Chuck Todd Confronts Two GOP Reps: ‘Why Is the President So Afraid of This Investigation?’

Chuck Todd faced off with both Republican congressmen Mark Meadows and Jim Jordan this afternoon about the Nunes memo and the amount of “hype” that’s gone into it.

Jordan and Meadows both said the memo raises serious questions about the Carter Page FISA application, though Todd questioned them about the “partisan” manner in which this was approached in.

He confronted both Jordan and Meadows about whether the memo is really as advertised and he directly asked them, “Do you believe the Russians tried to infiltrate our election?”

Meadows said “there was no collusion,” to which Todd shot back that there’s only been no evidence of it yet.

He asked, “Why is the President so afraid of this investigation?”

Jordan emphasized there’s no evidence of collusion and noted the origins of the dossier and its connections to the Democrats.

He said the fact that high-ranking people from the FBI are now out of their positions “should tell you something,” Todd said it could look to other people like Trump’s trying to “eliminate” people investigating him.
