Chuck Todd: The Bar Pelosi Set for Impeachment Is ‘Arguably Unattainable in This Political Environment’

Chuck Todd today said that the bar Speaker Nancy Pelosi set for impeachment is right now likely “unattainable in this political environment.”

In explaining her opposition to impeaching President Donald Trump right now, Pelosi said, “They wanted me to impeach President Bush for the Iraq war. I didn’t believe in it then, I don’t believe in it now. It divides the country. Unless there’s some conclusive evidence that takes us to that place.”

“Let’s be real here,” Todd said. “Pelosi has set a bar for impeachment that is arguably unattainable in this political environment.”

Another issue with what Pelosi said, Todd noted, is that while Democrats have largely supported her remarks, “no one can agree on what she meant.”
