Chuck Todd to Paul Ryan: Don’t Wiretapping Tweets ‘Eat Away at the President’s Own Credibility’?

After Sean Spicer said today President Trump stands by his wiretapping tweets despite what the chairs of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees have said, Speaker Paul Ryan told Chuck Todd today that “we’ve not seen any evidence” to back up Trump’s claims yet.

Todd asked him, “Can we just not believe our president?”

Ryan said he assumes Trump wants to wait until the investigations come to a conclusion first before weighing in further.

Todd then asked Ryan if he has concerns that “this eats away at the president’s own credibility” on other issues if he’s proven not to be credible on this.

Ryan talked about the president’s tweeting habits and said he doesn’t plan to defend all of them––even admitting he doesn’t pay that much attention to all of it. However, he did say that Trump has been “really darn successful” on Twitter.
