Chuck Todd: Trump Admin’s War on the Press Is ‘Nothing Less Than a War on the Truth’

On today’s MTP Daily, Chuck Todd decried the White House’s “war on the media” as basically being a “war on the truth.”

After CNN retracted a Russia report and three staffers resigned, both President Trump and Sarah Huckabee Sanders went off on the network and decried the “fake news” coming from the press.

Todd conceded that the media does not get it right all the time, referencing the CNN scandal, but he said they “took responsibility for its mistakes.”

“We try to get it right,” Todd said. “We take what we do seriously, because… viewers’ and readers trust is all we have, and without that, we’re nothing… We get fired for not telling the truth.”

He was stunned by Huckabee Sanders encouraging everyone to watch Project Veritas’ undercover CNN videos, whether they’re accurate or not, saying that the White House’s M.O. has been to “peddle a false story to claim the media’s telling false stories.”
