Chuck Todd: Trump May Have Pulled Both Brian Kemp and Ron DeSantis ‘Across the Finish Line’
During NBC News’ live election coverage tonight, Chuck Todd said it looks like President Donald Trump may have ended up helping out two candidates in two key races a lot.
As of 10:45 p.m. ET, the Georgia gubernatorial race between Brian Kemp and Stacey Abrams has not yet been called. But at that hour, Kemp led by approximately 12 percent with a sizable portion of the vote in — meaning could potentially pass the 50 percent threshold and avoid a runoff.
Lester Holt noted all the “star power” that was put into that race on both sides.
Todd brought up both the Georgia race and the Florida gubernatorial race to say this:
“Brian Kemp and Ron DeSantis––President Trump weighed in on both primaries. He got involved in both primaries and pulled them both across the finish line, and they’re both gonna eke out against proud progressive African-American Democrats.”
