Suffice it to say, Hillary Clinton is not a fan of Donald Trump‘s exploits on Twitter.
Speaking at the Women For Women luncheon with Christiane Amanpour, the former Secretary of State mocked Trump for what she essentially deems a Twitter-based strategy to diplomacy.
“Negotiations are critical,” Clinton said. “But they have to be part of a broader strategy. Not just thrown out on a tweet some morning that ‘Hey, let’s get together some morning and see if we can’t get along. And maybe we can, you know, come up with some sort of a deal.’ That doesn’t work.”
The crowd laughed and applauded at Clinton’s dig. And she returned to the subject in a later portion of the interview. Clinton discussed the fact that she received approximately three million more votes than Trump in the election. And Amanpour said, “I feel a tweet coming.”
“Fine,” Clinton said. “Better that than interfering in foreign affairs if he wants to tweet about me. I’m happy to be the, you know, the diversion. Because we’ve got lots of other things to worry about. And he should worry less about the election and my winning the popular vote than doing some other things that would be important to the country.”
Again, the crowd applauded.
