CNBC’s Jane Wells on Trump Economy: if This Keeps Up, ‘Why Wouldn’t You Reelect Him?!’
CNBC’s Jane Wells suggested that if the economy keeps going, there’s little reason why people wouldn’t re-elect President Donald Trump.
“We do have a trade war, prices will probably go up on a few things. At the same time US Steel is just firing up a defunct plant in the US because the demand for domestic steel is up because of these tariffs,” Wells began during a recent clip.
Then she said, “I am the sort of person that says you may not like this president, he has broken the mold, but if by 2020 we have GDP growth near 4%, we’ve got a market like this, we’ve got record low unemployment, we got more jobs than job applicants….and maybe we have peace in Korea. How do you not re-elect this guy, even if you think he’s a buffoon?”
Someone then brought up racism as a reason not to re-elect Trump but Wells seemed to think that would matter much in 2020.
“People are going to say, I don’t like him, he’s a racist, he’s a misogynist, poor illegal immigrants, but I am doing better than I was four years ago. America is safer…And I just don’t know how that gets defeated, because its the economy stupid.”
