CNN Analyst Phil Mudd: Omarosa ‘Gets a 16th Minute’ of Fame if White House Pursues NDA Threats

Philip Mudd, a CNN counterterrorism analyst and a former top CIA official, said ex-senior White House aide Omarosa Manigault should hope that the administration pursues their threats of legal action regarding her supposed non-disclosure agreement, as that would give her a “16th minute” of fame.

When Mudd was asked if he ever signed an NDA like the one described by the Trump administration, he said “no” and took “it a step further.”

“When I first heard about this on TV, when you and I or someone else was talking about it, I assumed this referred to nondisclosure of classified information,” Mudd said. “Not only have I never signed anything like this, I never heard anybody that had to sign something that said I can’t disparage one of my bosses. I’ve disparaged the bosses I’ve had for the past five years on CNN. Nobody’s ever called me on it.”

He continued discussing the White House’s backlash to Omarosa’s salacious tell-all book by explaining that their response is actually good for the ex-aide’s brand:

“I think this is an advantage for Omarosa. She’s got 15 minutes of fame. If the White House chooses to pursue this through legal means, she gets a 16th minute. So I think, If I’m sitting there in her shoes I’m thinking, I’m going to violate this till the cows come home and I’m gonna’ hope that the White House brings legal action, because that means I get to go on CNN through October. Great for her.”
