The surprise success of Brexit is making some analysts wonder about similarities with Donald Trump‘s campaign, and CNN’s Kate Bolduan asked a Hillary Clinton spokesman about that today.
Bolduan asked Brian Fallon, “Is England having a Donald Trump moment, Brian?”
Fallon dismissed it and said, “I don’t know that you could say that.” He proceeded to contrast Clinton’s reaction to the Brexit (which she opposed) with Trump’s, saying that in the midst of instability, “he’s basking in this outcome.”
But Bolduan again said, “It’s a populist, protectionist, anti-immigration message winning in the UK. Who does that sound like here in the US?”
Fallon insisted that they’re aware of the anxiety many Americans currently feel and assured Clinton is addressing it.
