Preet Bharara, the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York who was fired by President Trump after Trump promised to keep him on, has joined CNN as a senior legal analyst, according to Politico.
Bharara has become something of a well-known Trump critic since getting canned by the president back in March. A month after getting terminated, he joked about crowd sizes during a speech in an obvious dig at Trump, while also hitting the White House for hiding its visitor logs.
In June, he said that there was absolutely a case of obstruction of justice against POTUS. On top of that, Bharara has built up a large social media following and regularly criticizes the Trump administration on Twitter.
Bharara wasn’t the only former government employee/Trump critic that the network hired. According to Politico’s Michael Calderone, ex-Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub will now be a CNN contributor. Shaub stepped down from his post in July, stating at the time that the ethics program had been a “serious disappointment” in the Trump administration and that the US had become a “laughingstock.”
