CNN Legal Correspondent Confuses Bill Cosby and Bill O’Reilly While Discussing Sexual Misconduct Claims

After news broke today revealing ex-Fox News host Bill O’Reilly settled a $32 million sexual harassment claim, a CNN legal correspondent made an honest — yet very-telling — cable news gaffe.

While discussing the O’Reilly scandal on CNN’s Newsroom, Jean Casarez accidentally referred to the dethroned king of cable news as “Bill Cosby” — the disgraced comedian facing legal trouble after dozens of sexual misconduct allegations.

“Bill O’Reilly had said he had handled [the sexual harassment claims], both personally and confidentially. Well, with that knowledge, then Fox went on to sign Bill Cosby,” said Casarez — mistakenly switching out the name of the former Fox News’ host with an alleged rapist, all without even blinking.

Sure, it’s a very harmless and honest mistake, but still — the fact that Casarez confused two disgraced men who were once at the top of their professions is a very interesting slip. Maybe it was even a Freudian slip. Given that the reputations of the two once-powerful Bills are both devastated over sexual misconduct allegations — albeit, Cosby’s are worse — Casarez’s name swap is probably a common error.

Hell, if Casarez had accidentally mentioned Bill Clinton‘s name during the segment then the pyramid of Bills with disturbing sexual misconduct allegations going against them would’ve been complete.

Later on in the segment, Cosby’s name was brought up on purpose as Casarez and the Newsroom host discussed the fact that huge accusations have come out against a number of very famous and very powerful men — Harvey Weinstein, Roger Ailes, O’Reilly, and Cosby being the ones named.
