CNN is currently enjoying some success with its new reality show starring celebrity connoisseur and occasionally foul-mouthed Anthony Bourdain, and now the cable network is setting its sights on another reality series, this one a documentary about the city of Chicago called Chicagoland.
CNN sent out a press release announcing the new eight-episode series earlier today. One of the big names attached to the project is actor/director Robert Redford, who will be executive producing the series. In the press release, Redford says he wants to focus on “the vibrant culture and opportunities” Chicago has to offer, as well as looking at how Mayor Rahm Emanuel, whom Redford describes as “tough” and “visionary,” and his team are “doing heroic work in neighborhoods throughout the city.”
The project will also be helmed by the creators of the award-winning documentary Brick City, which focused on Newark. Chicagoland will debut on CNN in early 2014.
