CNN Panel of Suburban Moms Weigh in on Trump’s Rhetoric Inspiring Violence: ‘Act Like the Moral Leader’
Since “suburban moms” appear to be a crucial swing vote in next week midterm elections, CNN’s Alisyn Camerota and crew visited a New Jersey book club comprised of three Democrats and three Republicans to discuss a topic that they’ve reportedly avoided for 14 years: politics.
Shot in the sort of over-the-top and garish kitchen, family room one might expect on Real Housewives of New Jersey, Camerota deftly guided the polite conversation amongst friends who seemed most eager to not offend each other. When the topic turned to the current “toxic” political tone and whether or not President Trump has contributed, things got more interesting.
One one hand we saw the position that Trump’s “actions speak louder than words” and that he is a brash New Yorker. On the other hand, we saw the position that the leader of the free world should “act like the moral leader of the world’s greatest country.”
It does seem that the was mostly universal agreement in this room that Trump’s twitter feed does more harm than good. And one individual went so far as to directly link the violent acts of the last week to the tone set by the Commander in Chief.
Perhaps the most shocking part of this overly polite conversation is that there still exists a group of people who enjoy each other’s company despite their political difference. The harmonic convergence is coming, and Alisyn Camerota will lead us to the shining light of getting along.
