CNN Speaks With ‘Heartland’ Voters Elated By Mueller’s Findings: It Was a ‘Hoax,’ Trump ‘Didn’t Do Anything Wrong’
CNN aired a segment Tuesday speaking with President Donald Trump‘s supporters in Michigan over Robert Mueller‘s findings in his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.
CNN national correspondent Miguel Marquez spoke with several voters in Macomb County, Michigan, and he took note of how Republicans are feeling “emboldened” while Democrats seem to want to move on from the Russia investigation.
Trump super-fan Brian Pannebecker echoed many of Trump’s talking points on the Mueller probe, telling Marquez the investigation was “fake news,” a “hoax” and a “witch hunt,” adding that the real investigation should be launched against those behind the Steele dossier.
“The guy didn’t do anything wrong,” Pannebecker said of Trump.
Henry Yanez, a local political figure, found it “surprising” that Mueller didn’t reveal more in his report, but urged his fellow Democrats to focus more on policy than investigations at this point.
Even though Joe Biden has yet to confirm his 2020 candidacy, Marquez reported that the former vice president has enough support in Macomb to threaten Trump in the next election. John Skantze, a self-identified moderate who voted for Trump, said the Mueller summary is good news for the president, but he would consider supporting Biden a year from now.
