During the first night of the DNC in Philadelphia Monday, CNN trounced other networks by wide margins in both total viewership and in the coveted 25-54 age demographic.
In the primetime slot (8pm-11pm) CNN came in first among cable news networks, netting 5.120 million total viewers and 1.702 million in demo. MSNBC came in second with 3.749 million in total and 1.075 million demo. Fox trailed with 3.731 million in total and 858K in demo.
During the final 90 minutes (10pm-11:30pm), which saw the headliner speeches by First Lady Michelle Obama, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, and Sen. Bernie Sanders, CNN clocked 6.208 million in total and 2.187 million in demo, far above other cable and broadcast networks.
In the same time slot, MSNBC delivered 4.597 million in total and 1.398 million in demo 25-54 and Fox took in 3.330 million in total and 898K in demo.
Among broadcast networks during the final 90 min, NBC News delivered 4.293 million in total and 1.731 million in demo; ABC News 4.107 million in total and 1.351 million in demo; and CBS News 3.206 million in total and 1.052 million in demo.
