This past Sunday, for the first time since former New York Times media reporter Brian Stelter took over as host of CNN’s Reliable Sources last December, his show beat Fox News’ MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz in the 25-54 demo. Stelter drew 193K viewers in the demo on Oscar Sunday, March 2nd, while Kurtz averaged 172K.
In total viewers, however, Kurtz continued his consecutive wins beating Stelter, more than doubling the CNN host’s 384K with a 881K total figure.
When Stelter debuted as host of the CNN show last year, going head-to-head with former Reliable Sources host Kurtz for the first time, he trailed significantly in the demo, drawing 118K to Kurtz’s 239K.
As TVNewser reported, Stelter’s demo numbers improved on the show’s lead-in audience from Fareed Zakaria GPS for the third week straight.
