CNN’s Brooke Baldwin Calls Out Trump for Praising Putin, Then Attacking McCain and George H.W. Bush

On Friday, CNN’s Brooke Baldwin called out President Donald Trump for attacking ailing Republican icons Sen. John McCain and George H.W. Bush during a rally on Thursday in Montana.

Speaking to conservative columnist Max Boot, Baldwin asked Boot what he made of Trump “in one hand praising Putin and then attacking John McCain and Bush 41.”

She then played the video of Trump mocking McCain for his thumbs down on the healthcare bill and riffing on Bush’s “thousand points of lights.”

“Even though we got a little surprise vote that evening, you all remember that evening? Somebody came in with a thumbs down after campaigning for years that he was going to repeal and replace,” Trump said about McCain before moving on to Bush.

“Thousand points of light. I never quite got that one. What the hell is that? Has anyone ever figured that one out? It was put out by a Republican, wasn’t it?” Trump said to the praise of the rally crowds.

Baldwin then played Bush’s starkly contrasting thousand points of lights speech where the Republican president said this: “We can find meaning and reward by serving some higher purpose than ourselves. A shining purpose. The illumination of 1,000 points of light.”

The CNN host then repeated that Trump not only was attacking “not only two American icons but two Republican icons.”

Boot then responded, calling Trump’s words not only “disgusting” but noted both men he was attacking happen to be in “very poor health at the moment.”
