CNN’s Brooke Baldwin Scolds Fox News for ‘Inappropriate’ Laughter During Segment on Synagogue Shooting

CNN host Brooke Baldwin called out Fox News for airing a segment in-which several of the network’s talents laughed and joked while discussing political polarization after the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.

“It’s just so entirely inappropriate,” Baldwin said after showing the Fox News clip on CNN. “Eleven people were just murdered on Saturday and they’re laughing.”

CNN senior media reporter Oliver Darcy also questioned the segment.

“They were sort of joking throughout the whole segment, while that lower third was up about the slaughter at the synagogue and these bomb scares,” he observed. “They were joking and laughing pretty freely, so while the [Fox News] statement does pin on Kennedy at the end, I think it was a problem throughout the whole segment.”

Fox News released a statement defending those in the segment, including Harris Faulkner, Melissa Francis, and Kennedy, after Matt Drudge of the conservative slammed them for laughing.

“Kennedy made an unrelated quip at the end of the segment which was focused on unity—there was absolutely no joking or laughing about the events of this weekend and a screen grab of her smiling is hardly indicative of the entire segment,” the network stated. “The lower third should not have been up for the duration of this segment as it was not fully reflective of what the panelists were discussing.”
