CNN’s Erin Burnett asked Jill Stein tonight if she’s concerned that her recount efforts are “hurting confidence in the system.”
Stein first told Burnett that it’s odd that Team Trump is “scared” when “you would think they would be confident in their victory.” She likened her recount efforts to reviewing the tape when there’s a dispute during a football game.
Burnett pointed out to her that the likelihood of the outcome changing is slim to none.
Stein cited a court finding in Ohio in 2004 to say that there is some precedent for state election outcomes being changed.
But she went on to make it clear that “the purpose here is not to change the outcome… the purpose here is to create a process that we can trust. We cannot sweep American cynicism, American distrust after this very bitter and divisive election.”
