CNN’s Dana Bash is having none of the war of words between Donald Trump and Connecticut Senator Richard Blumenthal, saying Thursday that the entire feud was playing out like a bad soap opera too immature for adult audiences.
Bash pointed out how odd it was that Trump was accusing Blumenthal of lying about comments made by his Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch given how many people were backing up Blumenthal’s version of the facts, including a spokesman for Gorsuch hired by the White House and Republican Senator Ben Sasse.
“Chris Coons… Senator from Delaware, who is not a partisan flamethrower, said something this morning I think really sums it up: are we really in high school? Is this happening?” she asked.
“I would go a step further to say, I think kids in high school act more mature and kind of in the realm of reality than what we’re seeing here,” Bash said. “It’s more like, you know, maybe my kindergartner.”
“It’s hard to believe that we’re talking about the United States Government…” she continued. “You have all three branches of government part of this soap opera that is not even made for people who are even remotely adult.”
