CNN’s Dana Bash: Some Male Senators Have Made Inappropriate Comments to Me

A controversy about sexism on Capitol Hill emerged after Senator Kirsten Gillibrand claimed she’s received comments from male colleagues calling her “chubby” and “porky,” with one even saying, “You know, Kirsten, you’re even pretty when you’re fat.” Well, CNN Chief Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash said on-air today that she’s gotten some inappropriate remarks from male senators in the past, which she attributed to generational differences.

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell admitted earlier today there are just some male senators she wouldn’t want to be on an elevator with, and today Bash added on to those sentiments.

She said of the remarks Gillibrand heard, “I haven’t had comments like that, but after I had my son three years ago, I got some comments that would maybe blow you away from male senators, maybe not realizing that they were saying inappropriate things, but talking about, you know, getting my figure back and things like that.”
