CNN’s Dana Bash: White House Can’t ‘Continue to Get Away with’ Avoiding Answers on ‘Tapes’

At today’s White House press briefing, Sean Spicer was confronted over President Trump‘s “tapes” tweet to James Comey, but he again declined to elaborate. CNN’s Dana Bash said the White House just can’t keep avoiding a direct answer on this issue:

“The idea that they can continue to get away with ‘we’re not gonna say anything more on the tapes’ when you now have fellow Republicans on Capitol Hill… the idea of a taping system in the White House, that was and is a bridge too far for them.”

Brianna Keilar said that such a system “either exists or it does not exist.”

And so the question, she added, becomes, “They’re not sure if it does or are they being willfully ignorant or do they not know?”

Bash said this time Spicer wants to be careful and not “go out on a limb.” She also recalled what Trump himself said last week about the “accuracy” issue where his spokespeople are concerned.
