CNN’s Don Lemon Offers Tips to Trump on Ending Shutdown from Art of the Deal
CNN host Don Lemon trolled President Donald Trump by reading his own book, Art of the Deal, for some tips on how to get the government up and running again.
“What ever happened to the Art of the Deal?” Lemon said, referencing the 1987 classic co-written by Tony Schwartz — who has moved on from his ghostwriting to career and pivoted to an anti-Trump pundit.
“We all know Donald Trump didn’t actually write this book, but maybe he needs to go back and read it for some tips on how to get out of this mess of his own making,” he added.
The anchor proceeded to read a handful of outrageous quotes on deal making from Trump.
“I like thinking big, I always have, to me its very simple, if you’re going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big,” read one passage from the president.
Lemon continued by reading about what Trump does when he’s worried a deal won’t work: “I never get to attached to one deal or one approach, I keep a lot of balls in the air because some deals never pan out.”
“That’s like Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey — ‘I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and daggon, I’m gonna’ get my wall,'” Lemon joked.
The government is now in its third week of Trump’s shutdown over wall funding, with no clear end in sight. When discussing the president’s behavior amid the Washington deadlock, Lemon said “it is impossible to overstate how ridiculous this is” and compared to “a toddler who is not getting his way so he just says ‘bye-bye.’”
