CNN’s Gloria Borger: Trump and Giuliani Were ‘Trying to Intimidate’ Cohen… And They ‘Succeeded’

Michael Cohen is postponing his congressional testimony, citing threats from President Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, and CNN chief political analyst Gloria Borger said today the two of them have basically succeeded.

Wolf Blitzer asked if Democrats are going to subpoena Cohen to appear before the Oversight Committee. Borger noted how it’s not clear yet what they want to do, but that Chairman Elijah Cummings (D-MD) clearly things “there’s a larger issue here.”

She elaborated:

“In a way, you can really say that Rudy Giuliani and the president succeeded today, because what they wanted was for Cohen to postpone, delay, or cancel his testimony or try to cancel it. And that is exactly what he did. So, you know, I don’t think it was, you know, just by chance that Donald Trump was out there mentioning his father in law, that they were mentioning his wife. They were trying to intimidate him and Michael Cohen is clearly afraid for his family and that is what occurred today. So round one goes to them unless the committee can figure out a way to make sure Michael Cohen is there.”
