CNN’s Republican South Carolina town hall dominated the ratings last night, beating out Fox News’ regular programming and MSNBC’s Democratic town hall pretty decisively.
From 8-11 pm last night, CNN averaged 2.882K viewers in total and 781K in the 25-54 demographic. Fox News got an average of 2.231K total viewers and 425K in the demo, while MSNBC got 1.467K total and 314K in the demo.
CNN’s numbers increased into the night, with its highest numbers coming in the 10 pm and 11 pm hours (3.422K and 3.523K respectively), when Donald Trump took the stage, following John Kasich and Jeb Bush.
Fox News still did well in the ratings––an O’Reilly Factor guest-hosted by Eric Bolling got 2.473K viewers, followed by 2.351K for Megyn Kelly and 1.862K for Sean Hannity––but they still fell behind CNN once their town hall began. They did still comfortably beat out MSNBC.
Correction: An earlier version of this post said Fox lost to CNN in every hour from 8-11. The O’Reilly Factor did beat CNN in overall viewers in the 8 pm hour.
