CNN’s Harlow and Darcy Blast Sam Bee For ‘Incredibly Offensive’ Ivanka Remark: ‘Really Disgusting’

CNN anchor Poppy Harlow and senior media reporter Oliver Darcy are generally not ones to get riled up over the latest news, but this particular story struck a chord.

On Wednesday night, comedian Samantha Bee called Ivanka Trump a “feckless cunt,” calling her out for doing nothing to stop the practice of separating children from their parents at the border.

“That’s the c-word, incredibly offensive,” Harlow said.

“It was a really disgusting remark,” Darcy agreed. “This comment is extremely crass and critics are rightfully upset and saying that this is not something that should be used while discussing politics.”

“Ever,” Harlow added, asking if TBS, which airs Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, has issued a statement yet.

“We’re still waiting to see what happens and how they react,” Darcy replied. “This does come in the same week as Roseanne being fired for making a racist remark, so critics are saying if you’re going to condemn that, why aren’t you condemning this?”

(To those critics: Maybe because what Bee said wasn’t racist and what Roseanne said was super-duper racist?)

“All the headlines are focused right now on this vulgar term she used, so I’m not really sure how effective this was,” Darcy said. “If she was trying to make a larger point about immigration policies and trying to make a serious point, right, because people are now focusing on this vulgar remark.”

“That said, people are now talking about it and I think that might have been perhaps something she was looking for,” he added.

The two noted that Bee has used the c-word in her monologue before, so people are likely particularly incensed because she used it against the president’s daughter. Meanwhile, the lines delineating appropriate behavior appear to be dissolving, they said.

“The president himself had made a lot of inflammatory remarks from the campaign trail to the Oval Office,” Darcy noted.

“But you know what, what one person says never makes what another person says okay,” Harlow replied.
